Auditing Classes and Non-Degree Special Students

You are interested in individual courses but (not yet) in a degree program?

You are more than welcome to select individual courses without applying for a degree program.

You have the option, to register for individual courses

  • as an auditor (attend classes, but no assigments). These courses cannot be applied to a degree program at a later point. For admission as an auditor you ideally fulfill the requirements of the respective academic level (i.e. undergraduate degree for a course on graduate level).
  • as a „non-degree special student“ (NDSS). You take the course for credit and complete all assignments to earn the credit hours. Courses taken as NDSS may be applied to a degree program at a later point. For admission you must fulfill the requirements of the respecive academic level.

Most courses are available for auditors and/or NDSS.

Either way – auditing a course or taking one course for credit – can help you decide on applying for a degree program. As you take one course you will be able to realistically assess if a degree program is manageable and suitable in your current situation – and if CIU-Korntal fits your needs.

You may also want to take a look at our Certificates of Advanced Studies – short programs which allow you to focus on a subject area in a few courses.
